The Cape Henlopen School District and Cape Band Program will again be offering our free band workshop for 5th-8th grade (as of September 2023) students. Students will have lessons in small groups of like instruments during the month of July. After enrolling, families will be contacted by the teacher to arrange a lesson schedule.
Beginning students will have lessons with Mr. Greeson each day during the week of July 24-28 for 40 minutes sometime between the hours of 8am and 2pm. The schedule will be finalized once enrollments are completed
New band students will need to try 2-3 instruments that they are interested in and select one that suits them best. Mr. Greeson will be conducting screenings at all 5 elementary schools during the last couple weeks of school and will assist in that decision. Once an instrument is decided on, the family will need to acquire an instrument and the lesson book (Sound Innovations - Book 1). 5th grade band students will not be using the Making Music Matter lesson book this coming school year.
Most families rent instruments from Music and Arts, located in Lewes. They currently have instruments in stock and the required lesson book (Sound Innovations). If there is a problem with getting an instrument, please email Mr. Greeson.
