Elementary Band Program
Welcome to 5th Grade!
2023-2024 Beginning of the Year Information
The process is as follows:
1) Instrument demonstrations will take place September 6-8
2) Complete the interest/screening Google form (it has been sent to 5th grade teachers)
3) Try 2-3 instruments. Instrument Screenings will take place Sept 11-Sept 22
4)PLEASE review the orientation recap document below if you were not able to attend the meeting.
5) Begin your journey to becoming a musician

About Mr. Greeson: |
All About BAND |
Nicholas Greeson has been a public school band director for over 15 years, teaching at the high school and elementary levels. Beyond his teaching practice, he is a senior leader with the 78th US Army Band (USAR) and is an active performer on single reeds and horn. Nick is also an adjudicator for the National Judges Association / Tournament of Bands / TIA Jazz and Drum Corps Associates. He has served as the Delaware All-State Senior Band Coordinator and is currently President of Sussex County Music Educators Association County Band.
Mr. Greeson holds music degrees from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, and the American Band College of Sam Houston State University. |
The Cape Henlopen Elementary Band Program is designed to give first-year band students a solid foundation in beginning music literacy, fundamentals of sound and tone production, performance skills, and open the doors of participating and performing at the middle and high school levels.
Expectations for Band MembersCape Henlopen elementary band students will represent the best of the 5th grade classes at each school. They will be dedicated to giving their best efforts in their musical training, supportive of their peers in the band family, and committed to improving their skills every time they get their instrument out.
Strive for the Highest! Band Room RulesArrive on time at the scheduled start of your lesson group.
Be prepared with instrument, music folder, book and a PENCIL Participate in all exercises; they're important! Be respectful and supportive of everyone and their efforts. Take care of your (and everyone else's) instruments. Everyone helps clean up. Stay positive! Band is fun, but it's hard sometimes. Give 110%. Have fun, You're making MUSIC! |
